A Little About Giro d'Italia and NAVIOP
For years NAVIOP has been the technical partner/sponsor for “giro d’Italia a Vela” (www.velaitalia.net) which is a sailing event organized by Cino Ricci. Ricci is the famous skipper of Azzura and participated in the first Italian America’s Cup adventure.
During events like this sailboats are equipped with special instrumentation specifically studied by NAVIOP. The equipment is connected via satellite and shows sailboats positions in real time. The end users such as fans and sponsors can connect directly to this dedicated website and get a glimpse of the boats allowing interaction. The screen displays and tracks positions and also gives users the opportunity to view data by the boats which consists of navigation course, distances travelled, timing and even video information about crews and sponsors.
NAVIOP is proven marine technology installed on hundreds of yachts worldwide. The technology has been integrated with Google maps which has benefits for Island navigation showing sea and ground in much detail.
