Vessel monitoring is a new service that is currently under development by NAVIOP. The team is creating NAVIBOOK which will allow mechanics and captains to service and follow maintenance work onboard. The concept is similar to what is already in place in the automotive industry. When you take your car to the mechanic a cable is connected to the cars computer chip. The chip then relays messages to computers letting your mechanic know and if any problems are present. It furthermore offers in depth look at the history of the vehicle.
Similarly, the NAVIOP vessel monitoring system will provide the above information. Data is stored and transferred to servers via a remote connection. The data can be accessed and read to determine the status of the boat and any maintenance that needs to be carried out. The solution gives captains the benefit of organized data while mechanics can quickly determine problems and find a solution.
